Bill began working at GHM in 1982 while attending college at University of Maine. Bill graduated in 1984 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and obtained his Property and Casualty license the same year. In 1985, he obtained his Life Insurance license and in 1987 he became a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). Bill attends over 20 hours of insurance educational classes each year to maintain his CIC designation.
Over the years, Bill has been involved with several organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Waterville Area Boys & Girls Club, Alfond Youth Center, Waterville Opera House, Inland Hospital, and the Senator George J. Mitchell Scholarship Institute. Throughout his career, Bill has received numerous awards including the Star Award from Volunteers of America, Boys & Girls Club/YMCA Hall of Fame, Business Person of the Year from the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, Honorable Mention for Family Business of the Year, and Governor’s Award for Business Excellence. Bill has also served on several insurance agents’ advisory boards including Hanover Insurance Company’s National Advisory Council, Hanover’s Maine Advisory Council, Liberty Mutual’s Advisory Council and MMG Insurance Company’s Advisory Council.
Bill is currently a Director for Kennebec Savings Bank, Board Member for the Maine Insurance Agents Association, member of the AYC Founder’s Club, and a member of the Downtown Waterville Revitalization Committee. Recently Bill and his wife, Vicki, founded the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterville “Snack Pack Program” providing weekend meals to underprivileged children throughout central Maine.
